International Coastal Clean Up In Zambales

After Typhoon Mario literally rained on their plans last week, the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) is finally pushing through today in Zambales.

The ICC is one of the largest volunteer efforts in the world for ocean preservation and is celebrated annually every 3rd Saturday of September. We can be proud of the fact in the 2012 ICC event, the Philippines had the second largest volunteer group with 143,946 participants. And we can thank Lighthouse Marina Resort for that, together with several other organizations which includes such as the International Yachting Fellowship of Rotarians (IYFR) Philippine Fleet, Metro Pacific Investments Foundation (MPIF) in cooperation with Ocean Conservancy and ICC Philippines.

The goal for today’s activity is to continue creating awareness of our environmental problems with regards to ocean, river and waterway trash and educate people on how to change this situation. Education and lifestyle changes would prove pivotal in creating this change. Kudos to all the volunteers that will take part of the coastal cleanup today!
